An unwritten law of many highschool students once they get their driver’s license, is to get coffee before school. The controversial reigning three choices on where people get their morning coffee from have generally been; Dunkin, Starbucks, and Tim Hortans. I wouldn’t want to drive all the way to a fast food cafe before school just to end up being disappointed with my coffee! Therefore, it seems appropriate for me to take a deeper dive into these fast-food cafes and give my own personal rating.
At number three we have Tim Hortans. Tim Hortans has a good selection of drinks and the added bonus of donuts/timbits on their menu. When I think of Tim Hortans, my mind doesn’t usually go to coffee but rather their food options. Their donuts I would argue are pretty solid and I prefer their breakfast sandwiches over the ones from other fast-food companies, but for coffee, Tim Hortans is pretty mediocre. In my experience, the coffee from this restaurant tends to be kind of watered down. Therefore, I give Tim Hortons coffee and drink selection a five out of ten.
At number two: Dunkin Donuts. Dunkin, just as the name suggests, is also primarily known for their donuts. With a vast variety of donuts and seasonal breakfast items, Dunkin has done well for itself. However, I have found Dunkin’s coffee to be relatively inconsistent. Sometimes, it’s pretty good but other times it has tasted like the bottom of a coffee pot. Therefore, my liking towards Dunkin has been diminished to a six-point-five out of ten rating.
Lastly, at number one, the infamous: Starbucks. Starbucks has certainly made a name for itself over the years. They have some food options but the excitement towards their brand has primarily been over their drink selection, rightfully so. With holiday specials and unique flavors, Starbucks is the place to be. The coffee options at Starbucks are vast with different brews and such. In my experience, their coffee is typically smooth and never too bitter, making for a satisfying and worthwhile trip in the morning. Therefore, my rating for starbucks is a nine-point-five out of ten, still with some room for improvement.
Considering my addiction to a daily morning coffee, I would consider myself quite the expert and a trustworthy source for your coffee drinking needs. Therefore, using this guide to direct your morning coffee shop choice will likely result in a successful trip. You wouldn’t want to drive through for your coffee just for it to be watered down and ruin your morning! So make the right choice the first time and have no regrets.
