The day is Aug. 15. Finally, it’s the new Dicks House of Sports opening day. The new rock climbing, the golf performance center and the rows and rows of clothes, shoes or any sporting equipment people could want fill the store. This new store is better than anyone could have imagined and totally worth the wait.
The new Dicks House of Sport, at 1510 Polaris Parkway opened on Aug. 15. Opening day has been long awaited since the old building closed last February. The new Dicks House of Sport has improved in many aspects. It’s bigger, has more consumer activities and is overall a better store.
My favorite part was the whole section it had dedicated to Milk Makeup. It had pink clothes, pink shows and mirrors everywhere. Also it was all Nike, so it was really cool to see a popular athletic brand working with a makeup brand. I enjoy makeup and sports, so it was awesome to see two of my favorite things collaborating.
Dick’s also has a huge section just full of water bottles. Getting a cute water bottle is so important and trendy right now, and there are so many brands at this store with a variety of colors. Whether someone likes Stanleys, Owalas or Hydroflasks, this store has them all. My favorite is Stanley, and there were so many here.
Another aspect that was so special about this new store was that there was so much more to do there than shopping: there was rock climbing, a golf performance center and a cage where customers could practice swinging baseball bats. With all these options, it’s impossible to not have a good time at this store.
The way that rock climbing works is that customers have to make a reservation prior to showing up. The cost is $15 per person with a maximum of three people. While this can be helpful, it would be nice if people could just show up and do it because it was really hard to find a time when I could go.I wasn’t even able to get a reservation because there weren’t any available when I was free. It would also be better if bigger groups could go; my friends and I wanted to do it together but there were four of us so we couldn’t all do it.
Another thing that made this new store so nice was the staff. The workers at this store were so nice. While I was there, at least five different workers talked to me and asked me how I was or if I needed help. I asked one of the workers to help me find eye black before the football game, and he led me to the section and was very polite the whole time.
The store was so much bigger than the old one. There was so much to see. I spent so long just walking around looking at everything. With all the activities and different stands, there was always something to do or to look at. According to the Columbus dispatch, Dicks House of Sport is 100,000 square feet. The old store was in such high demand, a new, bigger location had to be built.
There was also just so much of everything including a “house of cleats”, which was a whole section dedicated to cleats. With so much variety, everybody would be able to find something that they liked. I play soccer, so cleats are very important to me, and I had a lot of fun looking at all the different brands and colors.
Dick’s House of Sport was also very easy to go through quickly. It was easy to navigate so I could find what I needed quickly.he workers at the checkout were very efficient. It’s easy to be in and out in 10 minutes. While it is so big, it’s never overwhelming to be in there like it is in some big stores.
Overall, I rate this store a four out of five stars. There were so many things about this store that I really enjoyed, but there were a few changes that could be made to make it even better.
