With the holiday known for the sweetest gifts of chocolate, it’s only right to review my top five choices. According to Daily Meals around 58 pounds of chocolate are purchased on Valentine’s Day every year.
My favorite chocolate year-round is Reese’s. During the holidays the heart shaped Reese’s has more peanut butter and I think they are better. A box of Reese’s hearts is around $11, I would give these a 10 out of 10.
My second favorite is Dove chocolate. Dove has a lot of different chocolates including caramel, peanut butter, dark chocolate and milk chocolate. Since Dove is just a rich chocolate with not a lot else to it, it is very sweet but definitely one of my favorites. A box of Dove chocolate goes for around $14, I would give these an eight out of 10.
Godiva is my third favorite chocolate that’s popular around Valentine’s Day. Godiva has a lot of assorted chocolates, some sweet, some rich and even some savory. Along with their assorted boxes Godiva also has chocolate bars that are the same chocolate found in the box. A box of Godiva chocolate goes for around $30, and I would give these a seven out of 10.
Russel Stovers is my fourth favorite. These chocolates are a lot like Godiva but they have more childlike boxes and less of an assortment of flavors. These are definitely a go to for a quick Valentine’s Day gift but they are not my top choice. A box of Russell Stover chocolate goes for around $15, I would give these a seven out of 10.
Finally, my least favorite of these five chocolates in Whitmans. Whitmans is also a lot like Godiva and Russell Stover, but they have even less of an assortment. A plus side to Whitmans is they have different shaped boxes which makes them more fun to receive. A box of Whitman’s chocolate goes for around $15, I would give these a six out of 10.
