Art Show: Art festival recap

The Art Festival was held on Sunday, April 17 and showcased artwork from Olentangy elementary schools, middle schools, and high schools. The Olentangy Orange arts festivals displays art from many different classes offered at Orange, including CAD, and fashion design classes.

The arts festival is organized and set up by students involved in NAHS and Art Club. These students work hard to create a successful display for all of the art students create throughout the school year, this also includes individual walls to honor seniors.

“It was fun because I got to meet new people doing it, it was a little exhausting because I helped set up tables and risers,” Sophomore Emilee Ludwig said.

Students involved in the Art Club helped set up the art show by putting up risers and decorating tables with plenty of art. This includes sculptures, paintings, and other drawings.

“I prepared cupcakes that were decorated over the span of a couple days, helped set up tables, and decorated the school.” Ludwig said.

The art show also included a bake sale, where students could bake in bulk and sell them at tables in the show. Also, there were a few ceramic projects to purchase.

The art show marks the end of the art club, which would meet once a month. For the past few meetings before the show, these students were working hard on the art show.

“My favorite part was getting to do fun activities with friends. I love being able to have a space to be creative after school.” Ludwig said.

The Freedom Trail 5th grade choir preformed at the art show as well, and the art show also included a bunch of art from the Olentangy elementary schools. Middle school art was also displayed through the hallways.

“I volunteered to help kids who attended the art show with painting in one of the art rooms. I interacted with them and helped them paint.” Sophomore Myky Hoang said.

There were multiple activities for young children to do throughout the art show to come in and make their own art. This included tiles, painting, and coloring.
