As third quarter approaches and the winter slump begins, motivation for studying can become harder. Changing the scenery of where students study can be beneficial. Here are some popular study spots to help beat the slump.
Olentangy River Brewing:
The Olentangy River Brewing Company is a popular place for students to study after school, or on the weekends. There is seating both inside and outside the building. The building is a smaller facility and often gets crowded, this causes noise to travel very easily. If students have a hard time focusing and get easily distracted, it might not be the most ideal place for them to study. During the warmer months, there is a patio open, and it is quieter there.
Since this is a bar, it is hard to concentrate if later in the evening due to its high popularity among adults. Additionally, the coffee and pastry bar closes at 8 p.m, it’s hard to stay and study after that time due to the large crowds of people. The best times to study here is in the mornings or afternoons during the week.
This is a better place to study with a group of people, not alone. It is very distracting even with headphones. People come here to meet and talk to people. There are often meetings, hang outs with friends and group study sessions that happen here. Therefore, this is a good place to study with a group of people but not alone.
Pros:
There is seating both inside and outside the building. The patio outside can be a quieter place to study during the warmer months when it’s open. Inside, there is a coffee bar where students can buy a drink and a pastry while studying. The best times to study here is in the mornings or afternoons during the week with a group of people.

Orange Branch Library:
The Orange Branch Library is an amazing place to study if students want to study in a quiet environment. There is not much noise besides people who are getting tutored. There are several open spots for study use like tables, bean bags, study rooms and outside seating. It is very easy to find a quiet corner with no distractions.
The library also has computers and printers for public use, as well as have a teen room, where teenagers can go to study in a quiet environment. They have rooms for tutors and groups to rent, so the main section of the library is silent majority of the time.
They do have a children’s area, but the library is big enough to where the noise doesn’t travel to all parts and the children aren’t normally there until the evening. They also have a seating area outside when it is warm out so that you can study. This place is perfect for studying alone without any distractions.

Java Central Cafė and Roasters:
Java Central Cafė and Roasters is perfect for studying alone. Students can get a pastry and coffee when they are studying here and connect to the free Wi-Fi they offer. The atmosphere is very calm and quiet especially in the afternoon any day of the week. Many students go here to study because of this.
However, this is a very small building. Due to the building being so small, it is hard to have groups of people to study with here. The seating is more meant for one or two people studying quietly.
If there is any noise it is very minimal and can easily be canceled out by putting on headphones. They also have outdoor seating which is easier to have group study sessions at. There are larger tables outside and in the back rooms for large groups of people. The quiet atmosphere of Java Central makes it a perfect place to study alone.

Panera:
Panera is a great place when studying with a group of people or alone. They have multiple areas to connect devices, at it’s nice to get food, drinks or pastries while studying at Panera.
It overall has a quiet atmosphere and is easy to focus with headphones in. However, one drawback is people are often walking in and out. It is a restaurant so naturally there are also people who are talking as they eat their meal, and the noise carries throughout the restaurant.
If needing a quiet environment, avoid the times surrounding meals. Most people come during lunch and dinner time. If students want a place to study with friends where you are free to talk when they need to, Panera is a great place to study.
