The Annual Olentangy Orange spring Arts Festival was held on Sunday, April 21st from 11am to 3pm. This event is held every year on the backend of April to not only recognize students in the arts, but also as a charitable event benefiting the Humane Society of Delaware County. During the open hours of the show, a multitude of activities and art demonstrations took place. This included students demonstrating how to throw on the wheel, printmaking and a multitude of art stations with activities for children of all ages. A main attraction of the art show that always has people coming back is the “chalk walk” that takes place while you are walking into the building. Students grouped up and created these amazing murals of chalk while people were walking into the show. As people walked into the school, they were greeted with programs, amazing two dimensional art and the first place award winners. Senior displays were included throughout the hallways wrapping around the school to highlight the talent and dedication performed by the art students. Displays of elementary school art including Freedom Trail, Oak Creek, Walnut creek and Olentangy Meadows were displayed as well to feature the artists to come. Coming full circle, the commons was where the majority of people congregated. Orange Middle School had a big portion of the space to highlight up and coming artists to get the feel of what it is like to become a pioneer in the arts. Also during the show, performances from the freedom trail choir, Orange Middle school jazz band and finishing off the day was an amazing performance from the high school jazz band.
