In The Zone: Orange football dominates

Having the same amount of points in football for multiple games is a weird coincidence, but for the football team it has become normal. The Pioneers had 42 points three games in a row to start its season.

This phenomenon shows a taste of what Orange football is capable of, and it is leading up to a season like nothing students have ever seen before.

Many different news sources have commented on the phenomenon, and surrounding schools are amazed by the Pioneers’ performance. Not only has Orange dominated the first three teams with 42 points each, they also shut out their first two opponents: Marysville and Westerville North.

Even though the football team started off its season away at Marysville, it didn’t give the Monarchs a chance to score in its own end zone. Orange’s offense was powered by six touchdowns from four different players showing that the Pioneers are an all-around strong team. Not only was the offense unstoppable but the defense forced three turnovers as well, leading to a win.

The first home game this season was against Westerville North where Orange stepped on the field for the first time in new blackout jerseys that stunned the crowd. The Pioneers scored another six touchdowns with the defense helping with two interceptions. This started to spur rumors from many fans that 42 may be Orange’s new lucky number.

The last game in their three in a row streak was against Olentangy High School, who is a rival for many years. Going into the game, fans were worried that Orange may fall short of a victory, but they pulled through, only allowing Olentangy to score 14 points.

Olentangy has many division I recruits from schools such as Ohio State, Clemson and the United States Naval Academy, but that didn’t affect Orange. There are many stand out players on the Pioneers as well, and they all work seamlessly together.

Levi Davis, the senior varsity quarterback, is one of the best players this season and is already committed to Ohio University for football. He has previously been a three-sport varsity athlete but put the other two sports on the back burner to focus on football, which can be seen through his playing ability.

According to the Milwaukee Journal, Lucas Fickel made many significant plays against Olentangy alongside Levi Davis, running 125 yards and scoring two touchdowns with 25 carries. Players like this are what make Orange a winning team.

The Pioneers along with their coach, Wes Schroeder, have proven to the surrounding area that they are here to stay and are looking to make it to the playoffs this season. Orange is currently ranked No. 4 in Central Ohio right below the Mentor Cardinals according to Max Preps.

If Orange keeps up this momentum going into their next games, then a state championship doesn’t seem too far out of reach. All the players leaning on each other and creating plays is what leads to the high scoring games the team achieved so far. .

Many fans are wondering what might take place in the games ahead. No one can question that the team has both a powerful offense and defense but when squared up against harder competition, anything can happen.

Orange has recently beaten Gahanna Lincoln 35-21 and they are expected to continue to win almost all their remaining games.

Will the number 42 continue to have significance later in the season or is that three-time coincidence coming to a close? Orange’s next opponents should be ready to see a 42 on the score board.
