Nov. 1 comes along once a year. This is the day when the Christmas trees go up in the malls and even some homes. The festive carols start playing, and in many people’s eyes, this day is the start to the Christmas season.
However, celebrating a season for two months becomes drawn out. By the time December comes along people don’t get as excited about Christmas because they already had a whole month of celebrations during November. Thanksgiving should be the start of the Christmas season.
During the Christmas season, stores make a lot of money because people need to buy gifts for family and friends. However, some stores start decorating for Christmas as early as July, according to Balsam Hill, which overlooks other holidays.

If Christmas starts getting celebrated before the advent season, the meaning behind Christmas and the joy that comes with it is overlooked and it becomes a holiday that is meant to please the human need, instead of focusing on the birth and celebration of a savior, Jesus.
