Last Friday, the school came out on top in a gutsy home win versus conference rivals Upper Arlington in football. The final score was 28-20 but the game went back and forth and both teams were competitive the entire game.
The game kicked off on time at 7 PM with slightly windy and chilly weather conditions. Orange received the first kick off and the game was off. A forty-seven yard pass from Levi Davis to Terryn Thomas led to a first and goal at the three yard line where Cohen Weaver would rush for a score to set up the first lead of the game.
Up 7-0, Orange kicked the ball off to UA. UA came out the drive with a rushing touchdown of their own. 7-7. Orange gets the ball back and Weaver rushes for another to give Orange a 14-7 lead to end the first quarter.
UA starts the second quarter with a ball, however Will Musgrove intercepted a pass to regain Orange possession. A few uneventful drives for both teams occur before UA manages three points with a field goal to set the scoreboard to 14-10 in Orange’s favor. Orange gets the ball back but throws a pass that is intercepted and taken all the way back for a UA defensive touchdown to give UA a 17-14 lead going into halftime.
Both teams possess the ball for zero points to start the quarter. In the middle of the third quarter, Davis connects with Beckett Miller for a touchdown. Orange takes the lead back 21-17.
Early in the fourth quarter the game is still close and Orange’s offense turns over the ball with a fumble. However, the defense comes up with a big stop. Back on offense, Davis keeps the ball for a rushing touchdown. Orange takes the first two score lead of the game in the fourth quarter, 28-17. UA makes one more field goal to set the final score to 28-20 (Orange) but it isn’t enough to top Orange.
