At the conclusion of my sophomore year, I can very confidently say that this was a great year of high school. There were many new experiences that I got to work through and enjoy with peers. There were a lot of new adjustments to make for everyone this year, and I handled them well. Having to put my phone up for class helped me to keep from getting distracted and to do my work in class every day.
Flex was another good change to the school this year because it gave me an extra opportunity to study and get my homework done early twice a week. This period felt useless at first, but as the year went on it became more useful as classes got harder.
The switch from freshman to sophomore year showed me the importance of prioritizing studying over the things I want to do because it did not come as easy to me as it did last year. The study habits I learned throughout this year will transfer over to my more important years and most importantly into college. Taking an AP class was a good decision to help myself with this. The best part of my sophomore year was making great friends and gaining so many new relationships with people who I never thought I would connect with. This year really taught me to reach out of my comfort zone and talk to those when I need to.
Wrestling for the girls wrestling team was a great experience with the new relationships made as well as finally winning the state title. Sharing that experience of walking onto the floor with my teammates and best friends made all the work I put into balancing school and my sport worth it.
Overall, this year, although there were many adjustments to make, it was a great way for me to learn better study habits and prioritize my time in class to do my work at home.
