Record-breaking success (Taylor’s Version): A look on Swift’s successful career

One of the most trending female singer-songwriters, Taylor Swift, has been on her Era’s tour for several months. The Era’s tour has a setlist of all her albums she’s created and the “eras” she’s been through. The beloved tour isn’t the only thing that’s making Swift popular. Her re-released albums and the announcement of her new concert film also play a role in the 44 percent boost of listeners in the past year.

The Era’s tour consists of 146 concerts and will run until Nov. 23, 2024. Swift surprised fans by announcing her second U.S. leg of her tour, which will start Oct. 18, 2024. This includes four different locations, Toronto, Indianapolis, Miami and New Orleans.

Singer, Gracie Abrams, will join Swift on her second leg of the U.S. tour as a special guest, according to rollingstone.com.

This is a perfect opportunity for fans to get tickets if they were unable to get them the first leg. Hopefully, Swifties who have already seen her live will give others a chance to see her, especially for those who fell victim to the Ticketmaster crisis.

Swift added that Ticketmaster assured her team before the sale that they would be able to handle “this kind of demand,” according to insider.com.

Swift has also made a big economic impact with her tour. It is projected that just in the United States, the profit from her concerts will result in around $5 billion in consumer spending. The Wall Street Journal calls it “Taylornomics.” It’s estimated that her shows would gross $590 million.

Swifties are taking this to the next level, dropping an estimated $1,300-$1,500 on things like outfits and costumes, merchandise, dining, and travel—boosting local economies by hundreds of millions of dollars in one weekend, according to time.com.

Her tour is predicted to set many records and is already making progress. A record she broke was the most-attended female concert in Glendale, Arizona with 69,000 fans. This hasn’t been broken since 1987 with Madonna’s tour. Another record broken was the most registered pre-sale tickets ever, 3.5 million people. Although there was a backlash with Ticketmaster because the website crashed. This tragic event caused many fans to unfortunately lose their tickets.

Ticketmaster subsequently canceled ticket sales to the general public, citing “extraordinarily high demands on ticketing systems and insufficient remaining ticket inventory to meet that demand,” according to cnn.com.

One thing that makes Swift so popular is the fact that she writes her own songs and is raw with her lyrics. Swift’s 17-year career results in fans growing up with her and many people can also relate to her songs, especially young females. This is very rare to have such a successful career for that long which makes her even more impressive.

Swift has a strong social and emotional bond that people feel with her fans. She appears to have a devoted fan base who feel intensely connected to her and her music, according to harvardgazette.com.

To add on to her success, on Aug. 31, Swift announced her concert film Taylor Swift: The Era’s Tour. The film will be available in theaters starting Oct. 13. She previously created a film of her Reputation tour. It will be exciting to see the concert from the comfort of home. It’s a perfect opportunity for people who did not attend her concert or for the Swifites who have been and want to watch it again whenever.

“The Eras Tour has been the most meaningful, electric experience of my life so far and I’m overjoyed to tell you that it’ll be coming to the big screen soon. Starting Oct 13th you’ll be able to experience the concert film in theaters in North America,” Swift said on Twitter.

The excitement about the film is apparent through the rocket high ticket sales in theaters. Experts believe that when the documentary is released, it will surpass $100 million in box office sales. That would make it one of the top grossing concert films in an astounding amount of time. The film is planned to be played in theaters for only a couple of weeks but further details will be released closer to the time.

Swift’s movie has every shot of becoming the top-grossing concert film of all time in its first weekend at the North American box office, according to hollywoodreporter.com.

Lastly, Swift will be re-releasing albums but they’re her version. Meaning that she will have her own rights to old albums. She has already re-released Red (Taylor’s Version), Fearless (Taylor’s Version) and most recently Speak Now (Taylor’s Version). She announced that 1989 (Taylor’s Version) will be released on Oct. 27. There’s some hinting for a Reputation (Taylor’s Version) as well.

“There’s something that I’ve been planning for a really, really, really ridiculously, embarrassingly long time, and instead of telling you about it, I think I’ll just sort of show you,” Swift said, unveiling the cover art and release date for 1989 (Taylor’s Version) on the big screen at one of her concerts.

Not only is Swift a good singer-songwriter, but she’s also a great businesswoman. Her strategic moves of releasing new albums, making documentaries and being a good and relatable person is what makes her successful. This is definitely the beginning of her success and it will be exciting what she has in store going forward.
