The dual on Friday, January 24th, had two very talented teams go head to head! Ohio’s #1 ranked team, Olentangy Orange was hosted by Ohio’s #6 ranked team, Massillon Perry.
The match up had several nationally and state ranked wrestlers face off. Many fans were in attendance and the gym was packed to the max.
Massillon took the lead early on with two pins and two forfeits; putting them in the lead by 24. They had their 100 pounder, and 115 win by pin and their 105 pounder, and 110 collect points by forfeits. Later on in the dual in the 130 pound weight class they collected 6 points by a first period pin.
Kenzie Carder made the momentum shift at the 120 pound weight class with a first period pin, putting Orange on the board. Additionally, scoring for Orange was Lacie Knick (125) by pin, Chloe Thomkins (135) by forfeit , Alanna Smith (140) by pin , Lexie Riley (145) by forfeit, Peyton Johnson (155) by pin, Lydia Heinrich (170) by forfeit, Leena Glass (190) by forfeit, and Jenny Huaracha-Arellanos (235) by forfeit.
Additionally, a consistent scorer for Orange, Lydia Heinrich, joined the 100 wins club and added her name to the list!
The Pioneers finished on top, defeating Massillion Perry 54-30. The girls wrestled hard and collected another win to a very competitive team!
