Powderpuff is a popular event and the process includes the football players coaching girls who want to play in a flag football game.  Any girl who is available to play can join their grade to defeat the other grade levels and all entry fee proceeds will go to the Cancer Support Community. The Powderpuff was held on October 1st.

The teams are sophomores vs. seniors and freshman vs. juniors and started at 5:30. Sophomore Isabel Fransisco played in the Powderpuff game this year. Many people have to compete for a position like wide receiver, defense, and quarterback.

Quote: “We haven’t had any practices yet, but I want to be a wide receiver or play defense,” Francisco said.

The coaches have a lot of responsibility to make their teams good. They practice drills, conditioning and there is a coach for both offense and defense. Sophomore Logan Moorhead coached his grades team.

“My role is to kind of keep the team organized and be in charge of everyone. I coach the defense but I also worry about the overall team” Moorhead said.

The Powderpuff was held at Orange Middle School from roughly 4:50 to 7:10 pm.

“Powderpuff is a fun game where girls who aren’t on a football team and the football players coach them to compete against other grades” Moorhead said.

This event allows girls to try a sport that otherwise they might not do. A lot of girls enjoy playing it for the experience of playing football, competing and having fun with their friends.

“I did it last year and it was fun to play with my friends” Francisco said.

Powderpuff is run by DECA, they had the task of making this event happen.
