The Olentangy Orange Softball team is 14-5 leaving conference play, but had a highlight throughout the 2 weeks of conference, with a dominant win vs. Dublin Coffman.

The girls lost to the Rocks on April 9th, 0-1. The Pioneers gave up one homerun, and couldn’t come back. On the 21st of April, the girls got another crack at the Dublin team.

The girls were able to run-rule Coffman in 6 innings, 10-0. Senior Emily Rodenberg drove in 4 RBI’s to keep this lineup hot all the way through.

“Despite losing and not hitting well the first game, we knew as a team we could hit off this pitcher, and we just had to keep it simple,” said Rodenberg.

Senior Pitcher Gauri Naik struck out 13 batters in the Coffman lineup, and was dominant all the way through, allowing only 3 hits, 2 walks, and no runs.

“I am confident on the mound always, and I try to force weak hit balls for my defense to work. The strikeouts just come with that,” said Naik.

The girls draw for the state tournament on May 4th, and with a 14-5 record, and being ranked 10th in the state, the girls are looking to make a decent tournament run.

“There are a ton of talented teams in our area. I know we are one of them. With the 6 district finals this year compared to 3 years prior, we have a good chance of doing something that hasn’t been done in the program’s history,” said Senior Shortstop Jordyn Pelles.

Follow the girls with their next game on May 3rd, at 12pm. It is Senior Day for the 8 seniors!
