Every season brings a new trend and new style to keep up with. Spring approaching means not only will the flowers be blooming but also new clothing trends as well.
Fashion trends last from as little as three years to as long as a decade. More recently, trends have been becoming shorter and shorter due to social media, according to Breznikar.
“I have a few mesh tops as my staple clothing pieces. They have cute patterns on them. One of them has roses and one has stripes,” sophomore Allison Peterson said.
This past winter, some popular fashion trends included oversized outerwear such as coats, layering items, low waisted pieces, bright colors and animal prints, most popularly the leopard print, according to Top Teny. Popular fashion trends from spring 2024 included colorful sneakers, loose linen pants, tortoise shell rectangular sunglasses, midi and maxi skirts, according to InStyle.
“Trends this spring are going to be bright colors such as pink, coral and yellow tops and dresses. Leopard print is still going to be in as well as cute jean skirts and other denim pieces,” sophomore Audrey Del Vecchio said.
Spring 2025 will bring many new trends and even some that may feel like a blast from the past. Predicted fashion trends include colors such as light greens and pinks, bag charms, athletic leisure items and slim cut pants, according to Glamour.
“I really want to buy more cute patterned tops and items, especially for spring. Even if it is not a clothing item as I have started to buy more bags that match with my outfits,” Peterson said.
An essential part of the wardrobe is the pieces of clothing that can be paired with everything. Most people have those types of clothing items in neutral colors such as black, white and even gray colors that can match with any item but can also be dressed up and layered.
“Staple pieces that I have in my closet are a good pair of jeans that are the right fit and cute basic tops, like white and black that you can build off of to make a more interesting outfit,” Del Vecchio said.
A big part of fashion trends depends on where people are shopping. For example, if people are shopping at a store like Brandy Melville, they would expect to see more soft and coastal clothes rather than bright clothing pieces.
My favorite places to shop are Aerie, American Eagle, Brandy Melville, Hollister and sometimes Urban Outfitters has some cute pieces,” Del Vecchio said.
