Galentine’s Day is an unofficial holiday on Feb. 13, the day before Valentine’s Day and specifically encourages women to get together with their friends and to honor their friendship. Anyone can celebrate it whether they’re single, in a relationship or married.

Galentine’s Day started around Feb. 11, 2010 from an episode of “Parks and Red” where they introduced Galentine’s Day, according to KJZZ.

Galentine’s Day is also known for all the decorating like Valentine’s Day. People like to use pink or red decorations and to dress with those colors too.

“There will be lots of stuff that are pink and red. We will decorate the table with lots of flowers and hearts,” Junior Olivia Tyson said.

A fun activity to do for Galentine’s is a board food night where everyone brings food. The most popular foods for Galentine’s are chocolate covered fruit, Chick-Fil-A boards, donuts and more.

“We are all going to be bringing different foods. Each person is going to bring a board of food and we are all going to share it,” Sophomore Gabriela Tiberi said.

Another fun activity to do with friends is to dress up and take photos. Also, doing art with friends may be fun too.

“I’m going to hang out with my friends and we will take cute pictures. We also might paint canvas with each other,” Tyson said.

A trend from Tiktok that a lot of friends do is to make a google slide of what each friend would be or do for different categories. Some examples are what each friend would be as an animal, how each friend would do in the Hunger Games, why everyone is single and many more.

“My favorite Galentine’s activity is the google slides. Last year, my group all did different slide shows, and we presented them to each other and it was really fun,” Tiberi said.

Most people enjoy watching movies on holidays like Galentines. Some popular movies are “Girls Trip”, “Someone Great”, “Clueless”, “Pitch Perfect” and “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” according to Good Housekeeping.  “My favorite activity for Galentines is probably eating all the food and watching movies,” Tyson said.
