College football is loved throughout the country. Whether it’s about tradition, school spirit, the upsets or rivalries, college football will always catch the attention of people.
In Ohio the most beloved team is Ohio State. It just so happens that they are in the playoffs and are currently No. 6. They win games with their strong defense, ball control and their position tactics. This has worked very well for them this season because they are 10-2.
“I am rooting for Ohio State because that’s who my family roots for,” freshman and lifelong Buckeye fam Charlotte Holmes said.
One game Ohio State can’t ever seem to win is against Michigan. This year it was one of the biggest upsets of the season. Michigan was lower ranked than Ohio State by a lot. Ryan Day’s record against Michigan is 1-4 and he receives most of the blame from each loss, although his overall record at OSU is 66-10, according to Sports Reference. This game was arguably one of the most interesting games to watch.
“The Ohio State vs Michigan game was the most fun to watch because there was a fight after and Michigan shouldn’t have won,” Holmes said.
Everyone wants their college team to win the championship. That’s what makes the tickets cost on average $2,845 according to axios.com. Currently the No. 1 team is Oregon and is a favorite of many.
“I think Oregon will win because they look like the best team and have a lot of momentum,” Ohio State University junior Katie Holmes said.
This year, the playoffs for college football are different. Instead of four teams in the playoffs it is allowing 12. This means that there is a chance for lower ranked teams to win the championship. The teams in the playoffs, in seeding order are, Oregon, Georgia, Boise State, Arizona State, Texas, Penn state, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Tennessee, Indiana, SMU, and Clemson, according to NCAA.
“College football is very intense because everyone wants to win,” Charlotte said
