TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat and YouTube are all social media that change the way everyone lives daily. From the recipe someone makes for dinner coming from Instagram, to the clothes bought from the store seen on TikTok, social media influences aspects of everyone’s lives in big or small ways.

Social media positively affects everyday life. It influences fashion, food, world news, local events and political events, according to American Public University. Some of the many popular trends right now are food reviews, known as Mukbangs, the same dances with different songs and buying from Tik Tok shop.

Internet trends change quickly, which helps keep people’s interest. If trends were to stay the same for longer than a month, then they wouldn’t be relevant. Influencers help keep the trend ideas relevant and fun.

Those who post the content are known as influencers, as their job is to upload content daily with relevant and wanted topics, bringing a wide range of people to their social media pages. Some influencers are pointless, famous for no specific reason. Other influencers, such as people who review items like food or clothes, go viral for good reasons, and are way more needed than the pointless interviews because they are actually influencing an item.

Social media has also affected how people communicate with each other. Internet trends are a quick way to see what friends are up to have fun, or even just converse over, according to American Public University.

Almost every day a new trend is uploaded. Whether on purpose or on accident no one knows their posts are going to “blow up”. Trends can last from a week to months, and some trends never really go away completely.

Trends on social media let people have fun, while still learning something new. Creators on social media post content that helps inform others about something and put it out there in a fun way to keep viewers interested. Mukbangs are a perfect example of this, as they go towards a target audience, keeping the viewers interested while also influencing or de-influencing the product, which in this case is food.

According to an interview with sophomore Lola McDaniel, Mukbangs she watches expand her love for food. McDaniel’s statement shows internet trends help people not only find their interests, but find relatable content for them to enjoy.

Internet trends are a positive part of our society, they are there for people to learn, communicate with others and influence/deinfluence items. These effects of social media help people to go about life easier and in a more fun way.
