The OOHS Art Club met after school on December 5, 2022. This has been the fourth monthly meeting of the year.
The goal of December’s meeting was to create ‘study buddies’ for the upcoming Midterm exams. These little monsters were made out of polymer clay and were inspired by the artist Leslie Levings, students could pick a few colors of clay to use for their creations and use tools.
“I had a lot of fun attending the meeting, this is my first year in art club and I’m enjoying it a lot so far,” sophomore Audrey Hemrick said.
Many students who attended the meeting really enjoyed being able to use their creativity to make something adorable. Having a place after school to show off their art skills is something that many talented students at Orange are interested in.
“This is my first year in art club and I really enjoy having the creative freedom, to create whatever we want as well as being able to hang out with all of my friends,” sophomore Taylor Boyd said.
In the past, the Art Club has had several meetings with different themes based on the materials available in the art rooms. These meetings are also holiday themed, as the October meeting was to make clay ghosts and pumpkins.
Art Club meetings include a tutorial by one of the many art teachers, to make the art process easier for the students attending. Most projects only take about 40-45 minutes, but some projects get split into two meetings.
“This is my first year in art club and I like it. I like being able to come up with my own ideas and creating them myself,” sophomore Myky Hoang said, “Being able to make art with my friends is fun.”
