Recently, HBO released a new spin off for its hit television series, “Game of Thrones” called “House of the Dragon,” which takes place 200 years before and mainly centers around the Targaryen family.
CP9 and CP12 English teacher Elizabeth Stringer just so happens to be a long-time fan of the original series.
“The ending was pretty disappointing so I was hoping this new series would break off some of the coolness that I liked from the original,” Stringer said.
“House of The Dragon” stars Milly Alcock, Emma D’Arcy, and Matt Smith to name a few. Viewers may recognize Smith from shows and movies such as, “The Crown,” “Doctor Who” or the 2002 original “Spiderman.”
“I don’t know any of the other actors. They are all like unknowns. They might be super famous but I don’t know,” she said.
“House of The Dragon” premiered on HBO and HBO Max on Aug. 21, and currently there are only two episodes. The fairly new show received a 8.5/10 rating from Rotten Tomatoes and 8.8/10 rating from IMDb
“You start to see some tension between the Targaryen family, like who’s going to take over the crown when the current king dies. You also start to see one of the main characters starting to come to power and play the game,” Stringer explained.
Stringer isn’t the only “Game of Thrones” fan at OOHS. Sara Barnhart, mom of junior Emma Barnhart, is another huge fan of the original series.
“I got into it since I had watched and loved the original Game of Thrones and I knew about it from seeing ads on social media and on HBO Max,” Barnhart said.
